 ANNUAL REPORT

The secret of our glorious victory lies in bent knees and heads bowed. There is always a podium laid for every individual to Dream! to desire, to determine, to decide their destiny.

The Believers Church Residential School is one of the best in discovering the inner talent of our students into vibrant colours.

The year began surrendering the school for the holiest to accomplish. The creator took no rest in uniting with us on this journey of education, to the trail of triumph.

We invite all your attention to the Annual Report 2022-23. To view the hard work, commitments, in all the areas on every juncture. The credit of sowing the seed, to develop this sea of knowledge, is endorsed to the founder chairman of Believers School His holiness ‘Moran Mor Athanasius Yohan I’, the Metropolitan of Believers Eastern Church, for edifying this institution into its present stature.

 RE-OPENING

Refreshing and rejuvenating are obligatory for the finest yield.

The shrine of wisdom made a right click on the 2nd of May, 2022, with the high school students arriving to take up the scholastic and co-scholastic challenges. The vibrant year began with a host of activities.

 TRAINING THE FACULTY

A mason who builds the invisible within four walls is the endowment of a teacher. The pace of change of the world, demands a pace of change in the professionals. A series of trainings were conducted in the month of May, from the innovative pedagogy of various subjects,to learning problems in children. Our team was prepared enough to face the challenges of the post covid scenario.

  CAREER GUIDANCE AND ADOLESCENCE EDUCATION

Career guidance is undergoing a rapid change in the light of evolving expectations of young adults.

‘Mr. Shihab A’, a state co-ordinator conducted two sessions for the high school and  the higher secondary students. Parents were also invited for the same. The gist was ‘Pursue your aptitude and potential’. A follow up session happened in the month of November.

 SUMMER CAMP

Opportunities don’t happen, we create them. For the first time in the history of this school, the summer camp happened with all hustle & bustle. It was a five-day event with each day being better than the previous day. From motivational speech to nature walk, to coding, to project-making, to origami, to games, to Art and craft, a host of activities culminated in the much-awaited love feast. It’s filling life with adventures, not things.

 BOARDS’ RESULT

Success is not accident, its hard work, perseverance, learning, sacrifice and love for what we are doing. The hard work paid it all. Here comes the results of those who did that great job.

 SCHOOL ASSEMBLIES

Every day is something that will inch you closer to a better tomorrow. Our school assemblies are another platform to teach our students the ability in themselves.

 READING WEEK

As the famous quote says “Today a reader, tomorrow a leader.

The ball of readership rolled paving the indefinite possibilities of exploring the unknown pages. The week-long Programme witnessed the special assemblies, book reviews, book trees etc. The budding author of the school Elain Cherain, Dan, Sreeram and Derrick who wrote books were also honoured. Class libraries and reading corners were set in each class with one hour reading every day. A special presentation was arranged by ‘Rev. Dr. Abraham Mulamoottil’ on the topic ‘Knowledge, Society and Economy’.

 INVESTITURE

Face the Future! Rule the Future

We lead as leaders to create leaders. The 18th investiture held on the 10th of August witnessed 53 children being invested with the mantle of School prefect, House captain, Cultural and Sports secretaries. ‘Mr. Biji George T’, Additional superintendent of Police, together with ‘Rev Dr. Daniel Johnson’, Secretary to the Sabha of the Believers Eastern Church, installed the coveted title to the council. ‘Johan Jomy Kuruvilla’ was elected the Head Boy and ‘Blessy Mathew’ the head girl.

NATIONAL PAINTING COMPETITION

Students did participate in the National integrity painting competition organized by Deepika. 4 of them bagged the 1st in the district level.

  • Devarnaryana D. – 5A for the UP.
  • Ananya Lilly Sam – 9E for the high school.
  • Dhiya Mariam Mathew – 11 A for the higher secondary.

  CCA CLASSES & ACTIVITIES

The quality of life is determined by the activities the students are put through. Life is a game; we need the sportsmanship to enjoy it. The CCA activities on Wednesdays and Thursdays are our children’s favourite play.  We know children learn best through exploration and play activities. They take the risk of losing a day but not a CCA class. The skating, badminton, football, cricket, and Aerobics are not only a sport, but a way to teach how to reach their passion and dream.

 INDEPENDENCE DAY

Observing the sovereignty of our country is a kind of worship for all the hardship of those gallant spirts. In commemorations of that great era, ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav’ was held with different programmes of dances, speeches and special programmes. Students participated in My Govt. Quiz’ organized by the government of India. Essay writing competition, Patriotic song, Bulletin Board Designing were the other competitions which added glow to the true colour.

   ONAM CELEBRATION

Onam is not a just a festival to cherish but a moment to reincarnate a past of prosperity and Goodness. The vibes of the same began weeks ago and culminated in the two days celebration. The traditional attires, games and Programmes made it a moment to remember

 NEET CENTRE

The Government allocated the BCRS school as a centre for the conduct of the prestigious NEET exam .

 ANTI DRUG CAMPAIGN

The International Anti-Drug Campaign was conducted by the Indian Red Cross Society. To put the message across a clay modelling & slogan writing competitions were conducted.

‘Sanjana Sanjeev’ of Class XI D and ‘Jane Varghese’ of Class VII D emerged the winners.

The poster writing competition hosted by the ‘Believers Church Medical College’ opened door for our students to carry away the most coveted prize.

 TEACHERS’ DAY

“If you have to put someone on a pedestal, put teachers. They are the society’s heroes,” said Guy Kawasaki

The students put us teachers on the pedestal. The 11th grades adorned and gratified the faculty with the special assembly attaching it with a tribute of Guru Vandanam and poem composed by Navami Deepu. All teachers experienced a memorable visual gratitude.

  SAHODAYA KALOTSAV-DISTRICT YOUTH FESTIVAL

Youths are the legends of tomorrow and what we make of them today will decide the course of their life.

The ‘Sahodaya Kalotsav 2022’ got off to a jubilant start at ‘The Choice school, Thiruvalla’, on 20th October, with the literary items. The cultural items were held at ‘Carmel Convent English Medium School, Thadiyoor, on 27th ,28th & 29th October, 2022

This time it was an epoch-making event in the history of BCRS for we bagged the Sahodaya Overall Trophy for the 4th consecutive year.

Competing with 58 schools our 107 participants labored hard and displayed tremendous courage and confidence as they fought, neck to neck and emerged victorious with the final score of 642 points. As the curtains were drawn we stood as the proud recipient of 5 Trophies

 and the most coveted overall championship Trophy as well.

36 of our students qualified for the state level and 17 of them secured A grade in their event.

 CCA REPORT

The cultural extravaganza of the BCRS is the youth festival and it is the platform to showcase talents. All art and literary forms are included in the school youth festival.

This year youth festival began in the month of July with literary items and continued till the month of September. All the six houses of the high school section gave in their maximum participation and they displayed their own set of talents and skills. All events were open to all without any restrictions. School CCA winners:

1st position: INDIGO HOUSE with 342 points.

2nd position VIRIDIAN HOUSE with 337 points.

KERALA PIRAVI

Outlined by the shorelines and the beguiling backwaters, this enchanting land of ours was born on 1st November 1956. Celebrating God’s own country, the Vanjipaatu, Mohiniattam, violin recitals, Kalaripaittu, Kathakali and the rich bulletin boards reminded us of the past culture and responsibility of the future.

BEET

Language is a road map of a culture. One language sets you in a corridor of life and two opens every door along the way. Being a foreign language, all efforts are taken  to enhance the skills of children in the English language. The various programmes associated with BEET, maneuvers the love for the language. The mental and arithmetic ability of children was enhanced through the ‘Clever Maths’ competition. The techy skills were assessed through the computer quiz.

CIVIL SERVICE TRAINING

Extending our horizon beyond academics, sports and cocurricular activities we ensure the upcoming stars are provided with wider opportunities. The civil service training under the mentorship of ‘Mr. Binu Kananthanam’ imparts training to IAS aspirants every Thursday.

 CHILDREN’S DAY

Children are God’s best creation. It is the smiles on their face, that brings life to this world. We in our small effort tried to do that too.14 th November was the day to celebrate their life. The school vibrated with all kinds of activities. The fund raiser taken up by different division strengthening our own charity program “The helping hands”. We have come a long way from where we began. Every year a good number of children below the age of 18 are supported for the medical and surgical expenses. Our small way of bringing light to the needy and vulnerable.

 SCHOOL EXHIBITION

Creativity is contagious. We need to pass it on. ‘Explore the Explores’ was another way to allow our children to make mistakes. Education is not filling a pail, but lighting a fire within them, and they did it.

 GOODNEWS FRIDAYS & BIBLE FIESTA

If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the Lord. Every Friday afternoon from 2:30 to 3:30 the time is set aside to teach our students how to be gracious in speech, seasoned with salt and how we ought to answer a person. It culminates with the Bible fiesta to judge the students’ talents.

 CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION

The best way to spread Christmas is singing aloud for all to hear.

The Magnificient Manger 2023 testified the same on the 16th of December. The spectacular event of the cultural with the dances, Medley, nativity, choirs and many more spoke for what the BCRS stood and that is why we are a school with a difference. Our Metropolitian His holiness ‘Moran Mor Athanasius Yohan I’ delivered the Christmas message and graced the occasion.

 SPORTS

Talent wins games but team work and intelligence wins championships. Winners are ordinary students doing things in extra ordinary ways. The year began with all the coaching camps in full swing, their hard work paid off with rich dividends. A glance at the achievements.

National Artistic Skating: ‘Elain Cyril’ participated at the national games and won the Bronze medal at the event.

Badminton : ‘Hanna Ann Jiju’ won the All Kerala State badminton singles champion & doubles runners-up.

Swimming: The swimming team participated in the ‘CBSE South zone’ competition at Bangalore. ‘Joel Thomas Isaac’ & ‘Ruth Anna Sabu’ won two individual Bronze Medal and the relay team won the Bronze award. The swimmers behind the event are:

  • Abner Joe Mathew
  • Hrishikesh Krishnan

 Recipient at the state: ‘G. Shyam Kumar’ won the Bronze for the Javelin at the ‘CBSE State Athletic Meet’.

Our students performed outstandingly well at the various sports events at the District levels.

Athletics: In athletics it was a rain of awards. The event was held at the ‘Kodumon Stadium’ and we bagged 41 Gold, 11 Silver and 8 Bronze. We are the overall champions as well as the champions in cat 2, 3 & 4. In the District Athletics meet we were able to bag 23 individual medals and 4 group medals. The winners qualified for the state meet at Kozkikode.

  • BCRS is the first runners-up for the ‘All Kerala Football Tournament’.

‘Hanna Ann Jiju’ & ‘Angel Mary Reji’, ‘Darryl Jacob Thomas’ & Heibel Jiju Abraham’   were the winners for the CTSC single & doubles for the girls and boys badminton.

‘Devabhadra  P’ of class: VI won the CTSC Chess tournament. Laxman bagged the 3rd prize at the same event.

Skating: –

  • Goutham Krishna won the gold for the Roller-skating championship in Ring 1, 2 & 3.

Inter house football matches were conducted for under 19 & under17. The events culminated in the much-awaited sports day. The special event began with the torch lighting, followed by the march past of various houses.

‘Viridian House’ with 203 points emerged the champions while ‘Indigo House’ with 189 points are the runners-up.

FINAL RESULTS OF CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

    The school overall house positions are as follows:

  • INDIGO HOUSE- CHAMPIONS- with 578 points.
  • VIRIDIAN HOUSE- 1st Runners -Up:  with 568 points.
  • TANGERINE HOUSE-2nd Runners -Up: with 481 points.

One Million Goal: –

The FIFA World cup was welcomed by the one-million goal campaign.
‘Shri Anto Antony’, MP, inaugurated the event by his kick off followed by other dignitaries.

The year 2022-2023 was a year of immense blessings with countless achievements and great wins for the school which kept the flag of BCRS fly high.

 CLASS MAGAZINE

To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong. Our class magazines are our children’s own work. You can paint, draw, write poems, stories or anything for that matter. It’s your own work and there are no marks on the progress card. But given a chance to look at it, the handiwork shocks the viewer.  It’s creativity to the core.

 REPORT OF OUR KINDERGARTEN

Vacation summer camps began for the little ones from the 9th of May to the 13th. Parents of the Kindergarten were given an awareness on the 21st of May to get a feel of the kind of education we impart.

Our KG kids were released from the covid induced imprisonment from the 2nd of June. The 300 odd students celebrated this year with an array of activities. Every month had it’s share of events from the healthy planet day, the Father’s Day, nurse day, doctor day, grandparents’ day and a host of other days too.

The rain of awards begins from our Kindergarten. A few pointers of their success.

  • District roller skating competition, DEVASENA RAJEEV Gold in Rink 1 & 2.

NAGABHUSAN Gold in Rink 4 & 5 He also got a Gold and Silver in the All Kerala Skating Competition.

  • SAHAL BIN SALAM – Gold for Rink 1& at the district and Gold at the All Kerala Tournament. He has also bagged the THIRD prize for the Balarama drawing competition conducted by

EVELYN ANNA CHERUSH got second prize for the Balarama drawing competition conducted by

  • JORDAN PURACKAL, appreciated by India Book of Records 2022 for winning certificates for different competitions

SCHOOL TOUR

Adventure is the best way to learn, we tell our children collect moments not things.

School Tours or Picnics were organized for all classes from KG to 12th. Our children exploit this option and make it a day with the 99% participating. All thanks to our tour operator- ‘Jayalakshmi Travels, Thiruvalla’ and its proprietor
‘Mr. Vipin Muralidharan’ who left no stone unturned for the safety of our children.

 NATIONAL LEVEL TOFFEY RIDE GENIUS CONTEST

The ‘Toffey Ride’ is a national level competition conducted in association with ‘Times of India’. The following students made us proud with their outstanding performance

    HISTORY MADE

‘Sanjana Sajeev’ of Class-XI, Humanities batch, has presented a research paper titled, “Life Experience and Trauma of Children during and after Partition” in the
7th ‘Annual International History Congress’, which was held this year at
‘Government Brennen College’, Kannur.

Kerala History Congress is a professional organization of teachers and research students for discussing and debating new fields of research and perspectives coming up in the domain of history. Sanjana was the youngest presenter and only school student to be selected to present her concept. It was a rare opportunity to present her views before the stalwart historians across the globe.

We take the credit for the inspiration from the History class. Keep it up.

 SKILLS & THRILLS

A Novel event in the calendar of the BCRS. It’s not for students, our teachers too need to beef up their skills, be passionate about upgrading the abilities and of course relax out of the water tight compartment. Their participation in recitation, singing, dancing and drawing proved beyond doubt that age in just a number, we can do it as well.

 ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

Our faith is made effective when we acknowledge everything good in others. It is the highest form of prayer. While I stand in the last lap of the academic let me take a few minutes to thank our Metropolitan, His holiness ‘Moran Mor Athanasius Yohan I’ for all his sacrifices, for making BCRS school a reality. A great school year happens when a great teacher does a great job. Thank you, Teachers, for making this great year.

The non-teaching staff from the administrative to the security, provide a clear and conducive environment which plays a vital role in imparting students learning. I thank each one of the them for their effort.  

Parenting is a life time job and does not stop when a child grows up. Thank you, parents, for providing us, your good children. To my students I say, you cannot change your future but you can change your habits and surely your habits will change your future.
